I choose…

I choose. I choose to be respected. I choose to have real friendships. I choose to be treated with kindness, and compassion. I choose to be loved. These are all great desires, but, honestly there’s something better.

What about giving respect? What about being a friend? Or treating people with compassion and kindness. Loving people for who they are? Wouldn’t that be more of an accomplishment? Aren’t we told about how the more you put in the more you get out?

Life is funny that way, it goes by the golden rule, if you respect other people, they will respect you. If you’re kind to other people, they will be kind back. To have friends you must be a friend, and to be loved, and treated with compassion, you have to give those qualities to people; that’s the only way to get it reflected back.

If we treated people in such a way that we’d show all five of these traits, and they mocked just one of them back at us, the world would be a much nicer place. Why not strive for that? Starting today. That’s what I choose.

I chose the power of courage.

The courage to raise my children in a world where their inner desires can be expressed without ridicule or threat of violence. And that their voice, mine and our community can weave our combined inner expressions of a greater truth. Together we can cooperatively build a better world for all of us, not one of us, but everybody. Whether you are cloaked in a burkha, beneath a yamulka or trained to hold a gun. We are a part of each other. We are two parts two-gether. All lives forever. This time forth.
